明清时期是中国哲学史上一个十分重要又极为复杂的时期，明清儒学转向正是这一思想鼎革阶段的主旋律。就明清儒学转向而言，既立足阳明心学传统，又深涉考据学与佛、道之学的泰州学派后劲焦竑，无疑是一个有待深入研究的人物。本书从心学、考据学与三教观入手，在现有研究成果的基础上，对焦竑之学展开了较为系统的探讨，揭示了焦竑之学的智识化特色。进而，以焦竑为坐标，对明代以及清代前中期的义理学、考据学和三教观进行梳理，提出了以焦竑为明清儒学转向之核心的观点。
