江淹（444—505），字文通，南朝著名文学家，其在诗、赋、文等各体文学创作上都取得了较为突出的成就。但纵观历代对其研究的视角，大多停留在个别问题与个别篇章之上，而很少对其文学创作进行整体审视。本书即从贬谪、感伤、儒释道思想、文体意识、艺术思维五大主题出发，对其文学创作进行整体性的研究，同时将其创作与同时代作家进行必要的比较，并作历时性的梳理，追本溯源，沿波讨流，以期对其文学创作给予准确的历史定位。
