本书选取我国有代表性的网络作家作品类型，通过对优秀网络作家成长道路的考察和作品的细读分析，与网络作家对话，与时代对话，在世界性、民族性交汇的新时代文化语境中，结合网络媒介传播的特点，梳理网络文学发展的脉络，对我国网络文学的文化意蕴、文学传承、艺术创造、时代价值、写作困境等进行研究，探讨网络文学的发生发展规律，尝试建构与时代发展要求相适应的，既有理解之同情，又有理解之批判的中国网络作家作品评价体系。
