本书主要参考张岱年先生的《中国哲学大纲》撰写，致力于揭显一些基本范畴与命题之间的内在关联，旨在推进中国哲学观念系统化的事业。它由天道的乾、坤二元，确立心性中志、仁二德的根基地位，解释人道中义、礼诸观念的来由、涵义和功用等，倡导人们在社会生活中处事谋利当体现道义原则。如是便从学理上证实孟子“先立乎其大者，则其小者不能夺”的论断，挺立起道德主体，将有助于人生实现“再圣化”，从而促进当代的精神文明建设。
