本书基于对中国现代性历史发展过程、内在逻辑和现实困境的详细考察，从理论和逻辑层面解答了现代性是否能够以社会工程的方式加以建构的疑问，提出了现代性建构社会工程化的思维。在分析社会工程为中国现代性建构提供的方法论支撑的基础上，本书围绕我国现代性生成过程中的四个核心问题，即社会发展的价值抉择问题、社会制度的正当性问题、社会结构的合理性问题以及社会个体的主体性问题，提出了详细的现代性建构方案。
Based on a detailed investigation of the historical development process, internal logic and practical dilemmas of Chinese modernity, this book answers the question of whether modernity can be constructed in the form of social engineering from the theoretical and logical levels, and puts forward the thinking of social engineering of modernity construction. On the basis of analyzing the methodological support provided by social engineering for the construction of modernity in China, this book puts forward a detailed modernity construction scheme around the four core issues in the process of the generation of modernity in China, namely, the value choice of social development, the legitimacy of social system, the rationality of social structure, and the subjectivity of social individuals.（AI翻译）
