以“十七年”为例，中国农民曾经有过的“土地还家”和穷人“翻身”的愿望，在新的人民国家的时代，均已经在事实上得到了实现。但是，在新的历史实践的基础上，“解放”问题也可能悄然诞生了某些新的理解或者想象，它们形成了对于当年社会主义“新生活”的诸多理解差异。本书试图依循1949-1966年间原始的历史材料、小说文本，以及主体想象等彼此交织的层面，努力促成“十七年”农村小说的叙述，展现出它自身的复调特性。

Taking the "17 years" as an example, the wishes of the Chinese peasants to "return the land to their homes" and the poor to "turn over" have been realized in fact in the era of the new people's state. However, on the basis of new historical practice, the issue of "liberation" may also quietly give birth to some new understandings or imaginations, which have formed many differences in understanding of the "new life" of socialism in those years.
