本书分三大部分，分别从文本细读、史料研究和学人评议等方面对中国现当代文学进行了专题性的研究。“文本与方法”注重文本细读，从具体的文本出发，利用新批评的细读原则和形式主义文论的叙事学方法，在文本分析的基础上，对文本的人物形象、叙事艺术、主题意蕴等多方面深入开掘，力图得出一些创新性的结论。“史料与问题”主要是从文学史料、文学期刊、文学版本等文献出发，采用无征不信、论从史出的史学原则出入于文学历史，在触摸大量第一手原始文献的基础上发现问题，力争做到“采用新材料以研究问题”并试图得出富有价值的科学结论。“学人与学术”主要是关于中国现当代文学研究者的学术评议，也即所谓“研究之研究”，侧重对学人学术史研究的探讨和梳理，把学人的研究论著置于学术史的宏阔背景中加以观照，在此基础上考察研究者各自的学术贡献及对于现代文学学科的建设意义。本书三大部分涵盖了中国现当代文学研究所涉及到的文本、史料、学术史与研究方法等诸多问题。

This book is divided into three parts, which respectively provide thematic research on Chinese modern and contemporary literature from the aspects of close reading of texts, research on historical materials, and scholars' review. "Text and Method" focuses on the close reading of texts, starting from specific texts, using the principle of close reading of New Criticism and the narrative method of formalist literary theory, and on the basis of text analysis, deeply excavates the characters, narrative art, thematic meaning and other aspects of the text, and strives to draw some innovative conclusions. "Historical Materials and Problems" mainly starts from literary historical materials, literary journals, literary editions and other documents, adopts the historiography principle of unbelief and discussion from history to enter and exit literary history, finds problems on the basis of touching a large number of first-hand original documents, and strives to "use new materials to study problems" and try to draw valuable scientific conclusions. "Scholars and Academics" is mainly about the academic review of Chinese modern and contemporary literature researchers, that is, the so-called "research of research", focusing on the discussion and combing of scholars' academic history research, placing scholars' research works in the broad background of academic history to observe, and on this basis, examining the respective academic contributions of researchers and their significance to the construction of modern literary disciplines.
