This book is the final result of the general project of the National Social Science Foundation of China and the special funding project of the China Postdoctoral Science Foundation. The outstanding feature of this book is the combination of sound change and meaning change, and systematically explores the characteristics, types and patterns of sound change and structural contraction in the evolution of Chinese grammar, as well as the interaction between sound change and meaning change. This book is the first book to systematically explore the interaction between sound and meaning in the evolution of grammar. The academic value can be summarized into three points: 1.
