This book aims to interpret the aesthetic thought of Xu Fuguan, a representative of contemporary neo-Confucianism, and thus present its intrinsic and fundamental relationship with the development of Chinese aesthetics in the twentieth century. In the history of Chinese aesthetics in the 20th century, Xu Fuguan is a figure who inherits the upper and lower levels, and his inheritance and development of the May Fourth Enlightenment spirit, the re-recognition and modern interpretation of the value of traditional aesthetic thought, and the opening of the aesthetic paradigm of the "Chinese artistic spirit" have had an important impact at home and abroad, greatly enriching and deepening the aesthetic theory of 20th century China. This book analyzes many tense and controversial views in Xu Fuguan's aesthetic thought, and reflects on Xu Fuguan's ideological value and academic achievements from the perspective of the history of aesthetic development, and makes new evaluations.（AI翻译）
