This book focuses on the main genres of modern Chinese novels, including condemnation novels, public case novels, chivalrous novels, old-school martial arts novels, romance novels, detective novels, science novels, renovation novels, and historical novels. Through the close reading of the text, the text connotation, narrative characteristics, cultural connotation, nation-state imagination, character existence, etc. are explained, in order to draw objective and scientific conclusions. In terms of exposition methods, the author draws on research methods such as hermeneutics, narratology, cultural analysis, and psychoanalysis, which not only takes into account the overall picture of modern novel genres, but also highlights the personality of the genres.
