本书依据60年来国内晚清政治史研究所走过的学术轨迹，对晚清政治史中的十个专题史研究分别做了回顾和总结。这十个专题史依次为：第一次鸦片战争史研究，第二次鸦片战争史研究，太平天国史研究，洋务运动史研究，中法战争史研究，中日甲午战争史研究，戊戌变法史研究，义和团运动史研究，清末十年新政史研究，辛亥革命史研究。

本书大体采取“以问题为中心”的学科史学术写作方法，并从纵横两个维度对各个专题史的研究进行学术梳理，既纵向揭示各个专题史在过去60多年里走过的历程，也横向对各个专题史研究中的重大学术问题和学术观点做一展示，同时指出各专题史研究中存在的问题，以期达到“辨章学术，考镜源流”的目的，为进一步研究指明方向。

Based on the academic trajectory of the domestic political history research of the late Qing Dynasty in the past 60 years, this book reviews and summarizes ten thematic historical studies in the political history of the late Qing Dynasty. The ten thematic histories are: the first Opium War history, the second Opium War, the Taiping Rebellion, the Western, the Sino-French War, the Sino-Japanese War, the Boxer Rebellion, the New Deal in the late Qing Dynasty, and the Xinhai Revolution. This book generally adopts the "problem-centered" academic writing method of disciplinary history, and academically sorts out the research of each thematic history from two dimensions, which not only vertically reveals the course of each thematic history in the past 60 years, but also horizontally displays the major academic issues and academic views in the research of each thematic history, and points out the problems existing in the research of each thematic history, in order to achieve the purpose of "distinguishing the academic and examining the source of the mirror" and pointing out the direction for further research.（AI翻译）
