Dan Ben-Amers is a professor of folklore at the University of Pennsylvania and a renowned scholar of Jewish folklore, folklore theory, and the study of African oral traditions. More than 30 years ago, his articles on motifs have been translated into Chinese, which has stimulated the interest of many domestic scholars in motifs, and since then, theories such as "exploring the definition of folklore in the relationship between inheritance and enlightenment" and "structural analysis" have always been valued by domestic folklore. This collection of essays is a complete collection of translations of his scholarly thought, which can fully show his theoretical ideas and their evolution over more than half a century, as well as the changes in the discipline of folklore over the past fifty years.
