乡土小说是中国现当代文学的重要组成部分，是中国现当代小说重要的题材之一。自20世纪70年代末到21世纪初，中国社会处在从农业文明向工业文明艰难转型的时期，乡村与城市的撞击和交流，传统与现代的转换和融合，给乡土小说的创作提供了无穷的资源。本书以20世纪70年代末至21世纪初以来的乡土小说为研究对象，深入发掘多元语境下乡土小说的主题思想，展现现代化大潮下的乡村景象、城镇化进程中的民工命运、城乡二元结构下的女性追求、社会转型发展中的人性碰撞、全球化语境中的文化选择，从历时性角度揭示新时期三十余年乡土小说呈现的某些延续与新质。

Vernacular novels are an important part of Chinese modern and contemporary literature, and one of the important themes of Chinese modern and contemporary novels. From the late 70s of the 20th century to the beginning of the 21st century, Chinese society was in a period of difficult transition from agricultural civilization to industrial civilization, and the collision and exchange between the countryside and the city, and the transformation and integration of tradition and modernity, provided endless resources for the creation of local novels.
