本书以田野调查为基础，以文化变迁理论为分析框架，以浙西南处于不同行政区域、不同语境等的畲族村落为切入点，重点通过对比分析法对我国东部经济发达地区不同畲族村落的文化变迁进行了研究。探讨在影响文化变迁的诸多因素中，旅游对畲族村落文化变迁产生的直接和间接影响，以及在总体经济发达背景下的浙西南畲族村落文化变迁特征，寻求畲族文化旅游发展与畲族村落文化保护传承的可持续措施。
