中国经济外交在2018年遭遇了严峻的挑战。一方面，在特朗普政府保护主义和单边主义政策冲击下，自由开放的国际经济秩序遭遇重大挫折，中美经贸摩擦持续升温；另一方面，“一带一路”建设在一些国家与地区遭遇风险，部分项目推进一度受阻。在此背景下，中国经济外交同样展现出了较强的韧性：以审慎灵活的态度来应对中美贸易摩擦、积极参与世界贸易组织改革、尝试化解“一带一路”所面临的各项风险、推动全球与区域经济治理。

China's economic diplomacy encountered severe challenges in 2018. On the one hand, under the impact of the Trump administration's protectionist and unilateral policies, the free and open international economic order has suffered major setbacks, and Sino-US economic and trade frictions have continued to heat up. On the other hand, the construction of the "Belt and Road" has encountered risks in some countries and regions, and the progress of some projects has been hindered for a while. In this context, China's economic diplomacy has also shown strong resilience: it has responded to Sino-US trade frictions with a prudent and flexible attitude, actively participated in the reform of the World Trade Organization, tried to resolve the risks faced by the "Belt and Road", and promoted global and regional economic governance.
