王阳明一生遵循孔子“述而不作”的思想，虽没有专门解注《论语》的著作，但在他的文集中却散见大量对《论语》的解注，通过解读这些解注，本书认为，王阳明的心学思想是他从《论语》等典籍中体悟出来的，王阳明《论语》学中体现出了圣学、心学和实学相统一的特征，而圣学、心学和实学也是阳明学的三个重要特征。阳明学首先是圣学，因为圣学，才把它与佛、老区分开来；其次是心学，因为心学，才把它与程朱理学区分开来；最后是实学，因为实学，阳明学才易于实践从而被人所接受。因此，王阳明《论语》学可称得是上具体而微的阳明学，在阳明学中占有重要地位。
