在全世界范围内的大量岩画中，人面岩画的数量不足万分之一，然而，人面岩画却广泛分布在环绕太平洋的几个大洲内，变化多样的构成形式及其所蕴含的丰富的思想内容和宗教特色史是不同凡响。本书在环太平洋视域下对人面岩画进行了较为全面的统计分析，以中国北方的人面岩画为参照，进行了类型学研究，并进一步融合考古学、民族学、艺术史学等研究成果，采用跨学科的研究方法，对人面岩画这一专題领域进行了深入的探索。

Among the large number of rock paintings in the world, the number of human face rock paintings is less than one in ten thousand, but the human face rock paintings are widely distributed in several continents around the Pacific Ocean, and the diverse forms of composition and the rich ideological content and religious characteristics they contain are extraordinary.
