The "liberal" trend of thought is one of the important trends in modern China. This book systematically sorts out the historical process of the development, evolution and decline of "liberal" thought in modern China, focusing on the concept of freedom in traditional Chinese and the factors of free thought in the Enlightenment trend in the late Ming and early Qing dynasties, and the evolution and connotation of the "freedom" ideology of Yan Fu, Liang Qichao, Hu Shi and Chu Anping. Through the comparison with cultural conservatism and Marxism, the characteristics and evolution of the "liberal" trend of thought in modern China in terms of traditional views and other core concepts are discussed. Based on historical materials, from the perspective of materialist historical view, it objectively examines the defects and limitations of the "liberal" trend of thought in modern China, mainly due to the lack of understanding of the main force of peasants at the core of China's national conditions. Due to congenital deficiencies and acquired disorders, as an imported product, the "liberal" trend of thought in modern China eventually failed, which shows that any copying ready-made theories or models will not work.(AI翻译)
