20世纪80年代以来，高等教育质量保障逐渐演化为现代高等教育系统中一项不可或缺的、正式的制度安排。本书运用社会学的视角、理论和方法，对改革开放40年特别是20世纪90年代以来中国高等教育质量保障的运行机制及其制度逻辑、哲学基础和实践后果进行了系统研究，提出了从大学制度建设入手来保障和提高高等教育质量的可能路径。

Since the 80s of the 20th century, the quality assurance of higher education has gradually evolved into an indispensable and formal institutional arrangement in the modern higher education system. Using the perspective, theory and method of sociology, this book systematically studies the operation mechanism of China's higher education quality assurance in the 40 years of reform and opening up, especially since the 90s of the 20th century, as well as its institutional logic, philosophical foundation and practical consequences, and puts forward a possible path to ensure and improve the quality of higher education from the construction of the university system.（AI翻译）
