本著从记忆和文化史双重视角入手,考察英国现实主义小说如何择用荷兰绘画及其背后的思想,进而揭示两者之间的契合与互动。它涉及诸多19世纪重大艺术史家、文学史家、小说家有关“荷兰画派与英国现实主义小说”的批评。
荷兰画派以承平、殷实、财富及宽容的世俗文化为特征,杂糅于英国现实主义小说中,参与集体记忆与共同体文化的建设,而“现实主义”思想所蕴含的“人性真实”恰恰体现了荷兰画派中普通公民(中产阶级)的审美趣味,现实主义小说对荷兰画派的文学阐释和文化记忆也体现这一趋势。本著分上(荷兰画派的流变与英国现实主义小说)中(荷兰画派与英国现实主义作家的渊源)下(荷兰画派与英国现实主义小说的交融)三编,即从为什么、是什么、怎么样回答英国现实主义小说家如何利用荷兰绘画来表达英民族怀恋与共同体建设的心理诉求,提出小说文本阐释的三层次:文字本身的“自然意义”,文字的再现与模仿;文本分析的“常规意义”,寓意的阐释与隐喻性;文本生产的“文化密码”,图像与文字共同决定民族、时代、宗教和哲学的基本要素。从而总结和反思小说家运用图像从事写作的文化策略及其文化的创新意义。
罗杰鹦,浙江农林大学文法学院教授,学术带头人;中国美术学院博士;硕士生导师;美国耶鲁大学英语系访问学者。浙江省外国文学与比较文学学会常务理事,浙江省外文学会理事。浙江农林大学生态文化研究所所长,浙江省大学外语教学指导委员会委员。在《外国文学研究》《国外文学》《新美术》《思想战线》《文化艺术研究》《当代外语研究》等学术期刊发表论文50余篇,多篇论文收录A&HCI和中国人民大学复印报刊资料《文艺理论》《外国文学研究》全文转载。主要著作有《“耶鲁学派”文论研究与经典阐释》(获浙江省外国文学与比较文学学会著作一等奖)、《英国小说的视觉唤起》、《本土化视野下的“耶鲁学派”研究》、《世界文学与浙江文学翻译》。主要研究方向为文学、当代文论、美术学。
