本书从文体修辞、社会心理、文化和语用认知等角度全面考察低调陈述修辞产生的社会背景、本质特征、使用特点以及对人类思维的影响。重点运用认知语言学理论，论述低调陈述修辞语言是理性思维和感性意识的外化表现形式，低调陈述的意义来源于语言的使用，人的认知心理模式决定了对低调陈述的理解；并通过梳理低调陈述修辞在政治、经济、文化等宽广语境中的运用，揭示社会交际环境需要和民族文化心态取向影响低调陈述修辞的规律。

鞠红，女，1963年生，安徽大学外语学院教授。研究专长：认知语言学和修辞学。主持并完成国家社会科学基金项目“基于使用的汉英‘低调陈述’认知维度拓展研究”、教育部人文社会科学研究项目“英汉低调陈述修辞语用认知对比研究”以及安徽省高校人文社会科学研究项目多项。在《外语教学与研究》《中国外语》《外语教学》《外语与外语教学》等期刊发表学术论文多篇。
