政治学是一门综合性、实践性很强的学问，是一门经世致用的学问。政治事物涉及社会生活的方方面面，似乎无处不在。但政治事物是复杂的，是各种社会问题、社会矛盾获得解决的最终“角斗场”。大量政治事物又是隐秘的，普通人难于涉足甚至难以察觉。因此，政治学是一门艰深的学问。新中国成立后不久，政治学的教学与研究在中国高校中被取消，一度沉寂。1979年3月30日，邓小平在中共中央召开的理论工作务虚会上发表了著名谈话《坚持四项基本原则》，其中他指出：“政治学、法学、社会学以及世界政治的研究，我们过去多年忽视了，现在也需要赶快补课。”由此，中国的政治学教学与研究工作得以恢复。40多年来，政治学、法学、社会学和世界政治这四大“补习生”，紧随中国改革开放和现代化的进程而获得新生和发展。但由于种种原因，政治学与其他三门学科相比，处于较为落后的位置。当前中国政治学发展的不充分与滞后主要表现在学术研究原创性不足、研究方法专业化程度不高，以及学术共同体发育滞后等几个方面。从专门化到专业化是所有哲学社会科学学科发展的规律，中国政治学正在经历着这一进程。但是，与相关学科相比，中国政治学缺乏专业性的研究方法，这突出地表现为当前...

A person can write political theory, policy, literature is the political science "all-rounder", otherwise he is only "blue collar".
