本书以无锡近代“遗珠”画家王云轩（崔巢）为个案研究，系统梳理其在画册、报刊等文献中的画作，以创作者逻辑思维来观图会意，结合特殊的时代背景，将其独特生动的画风娓娓道来。本书还结合了王云轩的另一重佛教徒身份，论述佛教思想融入其艺术创作所迸发的观念性，理解双重身份下的图意维度。全书以全景视角构建了一个鲜活且立体的多元画者形象，客观地还原他于美术史长河中的地位。
