科学哲学史主要研究科学与哲学（文化或观念）之间的思想关联，探索科学何以可能、哲学何以可能以及文化何以可能等重大问题。本书主要总结从古希腊直到后现代的科学与哲学之间关系的思想规律，得出科学知识决定哲学乃至文化等结论，为科技史、科学哲学以及STS等提供思想史基础。本书共分七章，全面系统地叙述了科学哲学史从古希腊到现代科学哲学的发展历程：一部科学哲学史就是用科学改造哲学的历史，科学家与哲学家共建或重建文化的历史。
