本书对3600件（套）未曾刊布的契约文书材料的收集与整理，将区域性研究和个案分析相结合，通过田宅交易相关数据和案例的梳理与分析，初步揭示了江西地区地权结构的特点，透视清代至民国时期的社会变迁，丰富对江西地区独具特色的生产方式、生活习俗、交易习惯、民间传统文化的认识，是目前所见唯一以江西地区田宅契约文书为研究对象的专题性系统研究成果。
