纂修于清乾隆年间的《四库全书总目》，不仅是古典目录学的巅峰之作，其辨章学术，考镜源流，更是中国传统学术的集大成之作。本书以《四库全书总目》620则清别集提要为研究对象，采用文献考证与观念辨析的研究方法，探究清别集提要之生成过程、考证文献与版本信息之正误、辨析诗文批评之得失、梳理后世学者对清别集提要文学观念之接受与修正。此研究旨在肃清官学思想支配下清别集提要存在的文献错误与观念缺失，还原清代文学真实面貌，为清代文学研究和清代文学史的书写提供借鉴。
