本书梳理了云南青铜艺术的发展演变过程，对云南青铜器所体现的审美心理、审美意识、审美价值及其文化特征和美学特征作出了阐释，并对其演变轨迹与发展特征进行了归纳和总结，揭示了云南青铜器铸造与自然生态、文化生态之间所形成的审美关系。同时在中国乃至世界青铜艺术的视阈中，考察了云南青铜器的独特性，描述了云南青铜艺术在云南及中国艺术史上的地位。
