由中唐法照纂輯的《淨土五會念佛誦經觀行儀》，是淨土宗信眾在作念佛法會時所依唱贊之本，但中國歷代《大藏經》未予收錄，其他傳世文獻亦未見載記。敦煌文獻中卻見有少量《淨土五會念佛誦經觀行儀》殘卷，其中以P.2066、P.2250兩件法藏寫卷保存状况最好且内容最為完整。本書是在日本《大正新修大藏經》、今人《敦煌本古佚與疑偽經校注》等已有校錄成果基礎上，秉承“原文直錄”之理念進行再校，冀期為學界提供一個更加貼近寫卷原貌的文本。
