本书以抗日战争时期大后方中心城市重庆、桂林和昆明出版译诗较多的重要报刊（报纸副刊与文艺期刊）为依托，以译诗为研究对象，考察译入语国家意识形态和主流诗学对译诗的影响与制约，以及翻译活动对抗战政治话语的建构、国民精神思想的建设、本土诗学的反哺。本书同时聚焦该时期重要译者，尤其是诗人译者，分析其诗歌翻译实践与诗歌创作、社会文化之间的互动关系。
