深圳城市规划建设成就已成为人类城市发展史上的奇迹，它是中国改革开放以来城市化成功建设的典范城市。深圳从一座县城经过40多年规划建设迅速成长为超大城市，实现了社会经济文化的历史性跨越。本书采用编年体的方式撰写深圳40年（1980-2020）城市规划历史，每年以“三段式”（背景综述、重点规划设计、规划实施举例）阐述深圳40年规划建设历程，城市规划如何智慧地解决不同历史时期的城市问题，并总结深圳城市规划的特点和成功经验，为中国乃至世界城市规划提供一个研究样本。
