《红楼梦》的梦是神话原型式的梦，《红楼梦》的人物命运既是对他们梦境的重复也是对神话原型的重复。红楼女性悲剧命运重演了贾宝玉的“太虚幻境梦”和林黛玉等人的梦，其实就是对女性悲剧命运的历史原型的重演。曹雪芹在西方理论家揭示梦和神话原型秘密之前，就运用梦和神话原型创作了《红楼梦》，这无疑显示了曹雪芹的超前与伟大。
