The School of International Studies of Renmin University of China is a subordinate college of Renmin University of China, formerly known as the Department of Foreign Affairs of Renmin University of China. It was founded in 1950 and the current Dean is Chen Yue. Renmin University of China is one of the first universities in China to conduct international studies and political science teaching research. Renmin University of China set up the Department of Foreign Affairs at the beginning of its establishment in 1950, and established teaching and research sections of international law, diplomatic history, international relations and Chinese foreign policy. The basic teaching and research section of Marxism-Leninism established in the same period focused on the teaching and research of basic theories of political science and doctrine, and conducted research on the political and economic situation in the Soviet Union and Eastern European countries. The Department of Politics, established in 1954, first integrated teaching and research of political subjects and international issues in the university, greatly improving the building up of discipline and personnel training.
