President of the Institute of Information Studies, the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences and Editor-in-Chief of Social Sciences Abroad. He graduated from the Department of Foreign Languages, Nankai University with a major in Russian in 1986 and worked at the Institute of Soviet Union and East European Studies at the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences in the same year. In 1990, he went to the Department of Social Sciences, Lomonosov Moscow State University as a state-sponsored student and finally obtained a doctoral degree. After he came back home, he worked as vice director and research fellow at the Institute of Russian Studies, assistant director of the Institute of Politics, director and doctoral supervisor of the Institute of Comparative Politics and vice director of the Library of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences (Literature Information Center). He also holds the posts of member of the National Committee of C.P.P.C.C., council member of the Translators Association of China, vice president of the Subcommittee of Scholars Returned from the Soviet Union (Russia) of the Western Returned Scholars Association, council member of the Sino-Russian Friendship Association and council member of the Sino-Central Asian Friendship Association.
