Yao Guimei, researcher of Division of African Studies and Director of Southern African studies section of the Institute of West-Asian and African Studies of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences (CASS); master’s students supervisor of the Graduate School of Chinese Academy of Social Sciences; lead researcher on innovation projects of CASS including Research on China’s Investment Strategies in Africa and Research on Production Capacity Cooperation between China and Africa. Specifically, she has been devoted to the studies for more than 30 years on African economic development, regional economic integration in Africa and the economic relations between China and African countries. She has visited more than a dozen African countries, chaired and participated in over ten research projects from governmental organizations, and submitted more than 20 think-tank reports. From 2012 to 2016, she won the CASS Award for the Excellence in Countermeasure Studies twice for the second prize, and three times for the third prize.
