Liu Zhiming has successively served as lecturer at the School of Journalism and Communication, Renmin University of China, and associate professor at the Kobe University, Japan. In 1998, he joined
the Institute of Journalism and Communication at the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences and served as the director of the Media Research Center. In 2013, he served as the chief expert of the China Public Opinion Survey Laboratory. He is the managing director of National Governance Research at the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, Deputy Director of the New Media Research Center, and researcher at the Institute of Journalism and Communication at the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences.
