本書綜合利用傳世文獻和出土文獻兩百餘種，對先秦兩漢时期的量詞系統進行全面描寫和研究。先秦兩漢时期量詞總計三百三十九個，其中名量詞三百二十個，動量詞十九個。本書在共時研究的基礎上展開歴時探討，分析了每一個量詞的語源、發展及興替，其中對一百零六個量詞的探討修正了之前學界的觀點。本書還進一步考察了先秦兩漢量詞的语法特徴、量詞發展的地域性和不平衡性等問题，并结合漢藏語系和南亞語系相關量詞研究的成果從類型學的视角探封了漢語量詞语法化的動因。

This book comprehensively uses more than 200 kinds of heirloom documents and excavated documents to comprehensively describe and study the quantifier system of the pre-Qin and Han dynasties. There were a total of 339 measure words in the pre-Qin and Han dynasties, including 320 nominal words and 19 momentum words. This book analyzes the etymology, development, and substitution of each quantifier on the basis of synchronic research, in which the discussion of one hundred and six quantifiers revisions the previous academic view. This book also further examines the grammatical characteristics of the two Han quantifiers in the pre-Qin dynasty, the regionality and imbalance of the development of quantifiers, and combines the results of the research on related quantifiers of the Sino-Tibetan and South Asian languages to explore the motivation of the grammaticalization of Chinese quantifiers from the perspective of typology.（AI翻译）
