20世纪乡土创作通常被视作中国现代化历程写照，揭示着乡土面临被城市化进程蚕食这一景况。作家一方面努力改变乡土衰败不振的状态，另一方面也流露出对未来发展道路的迷惘。在过去的研究中，我们比较注意从“城乡差异”的角度来发掘这一现代转换的意义，但仅仅关注到“差异性”也不足以完全阐述中国作家心态的变化，而对“浪漫书写”的重新认识，将有可能更具体地揭示中国20世纪乡土文学发展的若干细节。

20th-century vernacular works are often seen as a portrayal of China's modernization process, revealing the encroachment of the countryside by urbanization. On the one hand, the writer strives to change the decay of the countryside, and on the other hand, he also reveals confusion about the future development path.
