《隐喻艺术思维研究》是国内第一部系统探讨隐喻艺术思维的学术专著。作者王炳社采用交叉研究的方法，充分借鉴和运用了多学科的理论成果，首次提出了隐喻艺术思维这个概念，认为隐喻艺术思维就是艺术家运用隐喻方法，通过已知的某一对象的个别属性来暗示或隐含另一对象相似属性的特殊信息加工处理及整合过程，并对其进行了充分阐释和论证。
