中国古代法律人在司法实践中总结出了一些独特的法律方法。儒家学者或“引经注律”，或“引律注经”，将经学诠释学发挥到极致；法家学者以严格适用法律为旨归，将法律解释推向更精确、更精巧的境地，两者合力，共同型塑了有中国特色的法律解释方法体系。

法律解释方法体系的形成促进了中国古代法律的发展，催生了古代世界最伟大的法典——《唐律疏议》。《唐律疏议》不仅集汉、晋以来注律、释律方法之大成，而且在“制律”方法方面还有所发明。唐以后的法律人从《唐律疏议》中总结出了“例分八字”这一极富创造性的立法方法。

明清以降，中国传统法律方法获得了更大发展。一方面，法律人不断完善已有的制律、注律及用律方法；另一方面，推出了为百姓及基层司法工作者喜闻乐见的法律传播形式一法律歌诀。中国传统法律方法是中国古代法律智慧的结晶，是古代法律人对世界法律文明做出的重大贡献。

Ancient Chinese legal practitioners have summed up some unique legal methods in judicial practice. Confucian scholars or "quotation and commentary", or "quotation law commentary", take the hermeneutics of scripture to the extreme; Legalists and scholars aim to strictly apply the law and push legal interpretation to a more precise and refined state, and the two work together to shape a legal interpretation method system with Chinese characteristics. The formation of a system of legal interpretation methods promoted the development of ancient Chinese law and gave birth to the greatest code of law in the ancient world, the Tang Law Shun Discussion. The Tang Law Shun Discussion is not only the culmination of the methods of annotation and interpretation of laws since the Han and Jin dynasties, but also inventions in the method of "making laws". Later Tang legal scholars summed up the extremely creative legislative method of "eight characters of examples" from the "Tang Law Shun Discussion". Since the Ming and Qing dynasties, traditional Chinese legal methods have achieved greater development. On the one hand, legal practitioners continue to improve the existing laws of system, annotation and application of laws; On the other hand, a form of legal dissemination that is popular with the people and grassroots judicial workers has been launched.
