秩序取向的社会哲学在中国存续了两千年，对古代中国的发展发挥了积极作用。而到十九世纪，业已实现社会哲学转型并由此率先实现富强的西方国家，对中国带来了前所未有的挑战。如何应对这种挑战，是近现代中国思想家需要回应的核心问题。在近代思想家中，严复第一个在社会哲学的层面对中国传统社会、传统文化进行较为系统的理论反思，并实现了中国社会哲学从秩序取向到实力取向的转型。本书试图还原严复的这一思想探索历程，呈现其实力取向社会哲学理论的结构、内容与意蕴。

The order-oriented social philosophy has survived in China for two thousand years and played a positive role in the development of ancient China. By the nineteenth century, Western countries, which had already transformed their social philosophy and thus pioneered prosperity, posed unprecedented challenges to China. How to deal with this challenge is the core question that modern Chinese thinkers need to respond to. Among modern thinkers, Yan Fu was the first to carry out a more systematic theoretical reflection on traditional Chinese society and culture at the level of social philosophy, and realized the transformation of Chinese social philosophy from order orientation to strength orientation. This book attempts to restore Yan Fu's ideological exploration process, and presents the structure, content and meaning of his strength-oriented social philosophical theory.（AI翻译）
