全书分为三个部分：第一部分为“中国古代王朝的政治传播思想及制度概说”，是在以往研究中国古代政治传播思想的基础上，对古代政治传播思想及制度的概括说明，以建立连接政治传播的思想文化与政治传播的制度文化的桥梁，实现思想文化向制度文化研究的合理过渡；第二部分“中国古代王朝信息传播相关制度的历史演进”则以时间为线索，论述历代与政治信息传播相关的制度发展变化的历史；第三部分则是 “中国古代王朝政治传播制度体系及政治传播制度类型论”，首先以笔者建构的“中国古代王朝的政治传播制度体系”为框架，从总体上分析中国古代王朝的政治传播制度及得失。其次以威廉斯的“父权式的传播制度”的分类学说为对照，总结中国古代王朝政治传播的主要特征。

The book is divided into three parts: the first part is "An Overview of the Political Communication Thought and System of the Ancient Chinese Dynasty", which is a summary of the ancient political communication thought and system on the basis of previous research on the ancient Chinese political communication thought, so as to build a bridge connecting the ideological culture of political communication and the institutional culture of political communication, and realize the reasonable transition from ideological culture to institutional culture research; The second part, "The Historical Evolution of Information Dissemination Related Systems in Ancient China", uses time clues to discuss the history of institutional development and changes related to political information dissemination throughout the ages.
